Courtney’s spunk and determination could partly be credited to her two older brothers, whom she admired and emulated from babyhood. She picked up their athleticism and their creativity.
 
Several years after Courtney’s death her oldest brother Geoff, comic book writer and producer, was honoring his sister when he developed a story idea for a high school superhero. In 2020 the story was developed into a television show for HBO Max and the CW channel called Stargirl. Geoff named the main character Courtney and discusses his personal attachment to the teenage hero in this 2020 article from the Detroit News:
